Following Rome and Helsinki, we are delighted to host the 2012 European Conference on Health Economics at Zürich University. The goal of the Swiss Association for Health Economics is to sharpen public awareness of the significance of health economics for health policy, and to support development and research in health economics.

Swiss universities and universities of applied sciences have only a few chairs of health economics, but these offer an interesting variety of research fields. Nevertheless, this variety cannot hide the fact that health economics has to be anchored more firmly at university level. Switzerland is clearly lagging behind international developments in health economics. With ECHE 2012, we hope to set a milestone in profiling health economics research and teaching in Switzerland.

Zürich University Centre is an excellent Conference venue. The central location of the attractive, time-honoured building offers people the opportunity – outside the Conference programme – to visit the city’s beautiful sights and the nearby lake on foot, especially in the summer.

We wish all participants an interesting and informative Conference, exciting talks and, last but not least, some moments of recreation.
